EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ADJUSTED TO PARTICIPANTS OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF KNOWLEDGE ATTRACTED SIGNIFICANT ATTENTION IN THE FIRST YEAR’S EDITION

The first cycle of the educational workshop “Distribute This! – Promotion and distribution of documentary films” was held in Rijeka in June, October and December 2019 in the premises of the Filodrammatica Gallery, Mini Art Cinema and Botel Marina. The program was structured and held by Morana Ikić Komljenović.

The program offered participants a detailed insight into the preparation and implementation of documentary projects in all phases – from development to finalisation and distribution. It presented contemporary trends in documentary film distribution (festival, digital, cinema and television distribution, but also alternative distribution channels) and outlined the landscapes of the film industry (financing, project development and improvement programs, film markets and forums, potential partners – from funds, television to co-producers, festivals, program slots and determinations, VOD platforms – commercial, independent, educational, aggregators, etc.).

The educational program was tailored to participants of various levels of knowledge and experience, from young directors, producers and producers, cultural workers and workers in the audiovisual industry, and interested students and individuals without film experience.

In addition to the lecture, a screening of the film “Czech Dream” was held with the guest producer of the film Irena Taskovski, who presented a case study of the film and its international success.

Producer Sabina Krešić spoke about engaged documentary film, and individual consultations were held for specific projects.

Little Red Dot carried out the project in cooperation with Art-kino Croatia, the Filmaktiv association from Rijeka, the production company Fade In from Zagreb and the Taskovski films agency from London. The project was supported by the City of Rijeka, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), the Istra Cultural Agency (IKA) – Istra Film Commission and the Croatian Film Directors Association (DHFR).
