As a reminder, this year’s edition of the program “Distribute This! – Promotion and Distribution of Documentary Film” will be held from 14 to 18 of December 2020 online to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease.

The workshop will offer participants a detailed insight into the preparation and implementation of documentary projects – from development to finalization and distribution.

The lecturers are producers Iva Tkalec (Playtime Films, Belgium), Sabina Krešić (Fade In, Croatia), Marina Burić (ZagrebDox Pro, Croatia; IDFA, the Netherlands), Irena Taskovski (Taskovski films, Great Britain), Tamara Babun and Una Radić Wolfgang&Dolly, Croatia), Martina Petrović (CED – MEDIA Office Croatia) and Morana Ikić Komljenović (Little Red Dot, Croatia).

Producer Iva Tkalec, who lives and works in Belgium, will talk about current experiences working on co-productions through the example of the project she is currently working on, the film “Jump out” directed by Nika Šaravanja, co-produced by Belgium, Italy and Croatia (Playtime films, Fade In, Tico Films). Iva Tkalec has been working in production since 2007 – first in Zagreb’s Komakino (where she worked on production of international studio projects such as LUCAS films, 20th Century Fox Television, ABC, Pro7). Since 2011, she joined Fade In studio from Zagreb, where she worked on the documentary series “Direkt” and other international projects. Since 2014, she lives and works in Belgium – first in the sales film agency Visible Films and later on for other independent productions. She is the producer of “My life without air” (Bojana Burnać, Restart), “Borderline” (Tiha Gudac, Kinoteka), and “Jump out” where he collaborates with Fade Ina and producer Sabina Krešić.

Sabina Krešić has many years of experience as a cultural manager on various projects, and works as the main producer at Fade In. Together with Iva Tkalec, she will talk about the experience of working on international co-production.

Marina Burić, an expert for educational programs at the ZagrebDox and IDFA, will introduce to participants all the changes and new trends at film festivals. Marina Burić was in charge of film distribution at Restart, she was the Croatian coordinator of the international project KineDok, and since 2019 she has been engaged as the head of the ZagrebDox Pro educational program within the Zagreb Dox International Documentary Film Festival and as a producer of the IDFA Forum. Industry of the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival.

The guest this year will be Irena Taskovski, director and founder of Taskovski films, which has been operating for more than 16 years and is based in London. Taskovski is engaged in production and representation. Attendees will be able to watch the film “Czech Dream” produced by Irena Taskovski, and will present an analysis of the case of the film and its international success.

In addition, she will talk about the challenges of doing business during the Covid-19 pandemic. Namely, Irena Taskovski has launched her own VOD service (Taskovski Home Cinema) and will discuss how the way documentary distribution is changing due to changes in the viewers’ life habits. Irena Taskovski graduated from the Prague FAMU. She also studied at the Sam Spiegel School of Film and Television in Jerusalem. She received her master’s degree from the National Film & TV School in London. She organized and compiled a program for several educational programs and actively teaches in India (Docedge Kolkata), Mexico (Guadalajara), Taiwan (Taiwan Film Institute), Jihlava (Emerging producers), DOK.Incubator (CZ), Doc nomads program (University of Portugal, Hungary and Belgium) and elsewhere.

Producer Tamara Babun will present a case study of her successful project, the documentary “Little Star Rising”, which was co-produced with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tamara will also talk about the importance of regional co-productions as well as the crowdfunding campaign that she conducted as part of the production and promotion of that title. Tamara Babun has been involved in film since 2006 in various positions in the organization and production sectors. She was the producer of the ZagrebDox Pro training program, and worked at Factum as an executive producer. In early 2017, she founded the production company Wolfgang&Dolly in which he leads the development of all projects. She participated in the drafting of the text of the Recommendation of the Council of Europe for Gender Equality in the AV Sector and is a member of the Executive Board of the International Association of Producers FIAPF.

Director and producer Una Radić will hold a lecture and workshop on film project development and film marketing. She worked as the head of the On-Air promotion department at HRT, where she was in charge of promoting content on their four television channels. She works as a producer at the production company Wolfgang&Dolly.

Head of the Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Croatia, Martina Petrović will present her work and opportunities for financing Croatian films from the MEDIA Subprogram. Martina holds a degree in International Relations and Psychology. Since 2008, she has been actively participating in the establishment of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. The Croatian Producers’ Association awards her the prize “Albert Kapović” in 2010. As the head of CED – MEDIA Office Croatia, she actively participates in the organization of innovative and creative workshops – important instruments of education, information and networking of both Croatian and European film professionals.

Producer Morana Ikić Komljenović will give an introductory lecture on the basics of preparation of documentary film projects and their distribution. Morana is an independent expert in the field of film and TV production, education, development and distribution of audiovisual works. She has directed several experimental and documentary films, and her debut “Naked soul” was screened in 2001 at the Sundance Film Festival. She works as an external expert on many projects, mostly for the MEDIA Subprogram and for Taskovski Films. She consulted Asian projects (Asian Network of Documentary).

“Distribute This!” is organised by Little Red Dot in collaboration with Wolfgang & Dolly, Mini Art Cinema from Rijeka, the association Filmaktiv, Fade In and Taskovski films. The project was supported by the City of Rijeka, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) and the Croatian Film Directors Association (DHFR).
